About Bindy Tice
Affectionately called Bindy, Belinda Sue Tice was born August 16, 1965, in Waterloo, Iowa. She died February 23, 2025, at the age of 59, in Dallas, Texas. She is survived by her father, The Rev. William F. Tice, Jr. (Karen), Milford, OH; a sister, Elizabeth Ann Stevens (Dr. Scott), Prospect, KY; and a brother, William F. Tice III (Laura), Shreveport, LA. Bindy had a special relationship with her Nephews: Bennett Tice, Will Stevens and Alex Stevens; and with her Nieces: Annie Stevens and Ella Grace Tice. Bindy was preceded in death by her beloved mother, M. Elizabeth Robertson Tice; her paternal grandparents, William F. and June Tice; and her maternal grandparents, The Rev. Dwight L. and Leona Robertson.Challenged by disabilities she possessed an aggressive quest to live her life to the fullest. She applied herself to reading and education. When she graduated from high school she had the state’s highest score on the sociology test. She earned a BS degree in Sociology from Centenary College of Louisiana, and a master’s degree in industrial psychology from Louisiana Tech University.
Bindy was a dedicated TRIO professional who devoted 29 years to advocating for educational access and student success. Her unwavering commitment to TRIO students transformed countless lives, ensuring that education remained a pathway to opportunity for all. The Texas TRIO Executive Board stated that “Bindy’s contributions to TRIO and higher education will never be forgotten, and the spirit of her service will continue to inspire us all.” Gail Jackson, Kilgore College, stated that “many students came by to visit her years after graduating from KC to give her an update about their life and what they were doing now. She loved to talk to them about their progress.” Bindy was also a grant writer.
Bindy was a sports enthusiast. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls, Kansas Jayhawks basketball, LSU Tigers football, San Antonio Spurs, Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints. Her favorite pro athletes were Michael Jordon and Anthony Rizzo. She also enjoyed national, world and Olympic figure skating competition. On one occasion she had a conversation on a street corner in downtown Bozeman, Montana with legendary basketball coach Bobby Knight. She also met and conversed with former Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
Her favorite travel destinations were to Yellowstone National Park, Montana, State of Washington and Seattle, cruise ship to the Alaska Inside Passage witnessing a calving glacier and Orca whales, Vermont, Civil War battlefields, the emerald coast around Destin, Florida and Chicago’s Wrigley Field.
She was a committed Christian with a strong faith. She relied on God’s grace, kindness and mercy. The last year of her life she was blessed by reading JESUS CALLING daily devotionals by Sarah Young. Bindy saved this in her cell phone two days before she passed: Snoopy pictured with a heart background pondering, “Some roads you need to take alone. No family. No friends. No partner. Just you and God.” She is now glorified and reunited with her mother, grandparents, extended family, friends, and all the saints in the presence of God. Her love, laughter, positive spirit, superior work ethic, and cherished friendship will forever remain in our hearts. One life lives on in many memories.
She will be laid to rest at Zion Cemetery, Sandy Lake, PA, adjacent to her mother and maternal grandparents.
